Stress management is such a broad term!
Whether you are married, single, a business person or a stay at home mum stressful situations and the way you react to them can cause deep rooted problems either at home or in the office.
If you are constantly being bombarded with all the negative things you ‘are’ (from the other persons perspective) you may well react in a negative way or believe the statements to be true.
For example,
Your partner tells you that you don’t pull your weight around the house, you are not good with your children, you don’t earn enough money, you waste money , whatever the situation is; this can cause you to believe you are a failure, that you are just not good enough or good at anything, and sometimes you may be guilty, but take on all the blame. This in turn can make you angry, or depressed or both. Negative statements cause a great deal of stress.
Having been through a divorce I know just how this works!
That’s one side of it, but how is it relevant to your work or business?
When a colleague, employee or your boss makes a statement or comment which resonates with the negative input your ‘loved one’ makes, the outcome is likely to upset you, make you feel guilty, blame, angry (because you are doing your best under the circumstances)one of confrontational.
Let’s be honest, if you’ve got issues carrying around with you every situation every second of the day can ‘push your buttons’ leading to: road rage, aggressive driving, friction at work, loss of job, insomnia, burn-outs, M.E. nervous breakdowns, divorce and even the failure of your own business (and so much more)
Stress presents in many shapes and forms, to reduce the impact of stress and turn about your WHOLE life may seem like an elusive goal, but I personally know it is achievable!
Stress is like a snowball, it can get bigger and bigger! As you roll a snowball around you make it bigger, as it pick up more snow as well as the debris around. It either turns into a larger solid hard lump until there’s a change (temperature usually!) And like ALL snowballs it breaks up or melts away.
You are in control of your snowball! Why not throw it and have some fun!
